Serving Small Businesses + Entrepreneurs
The beginning of a new year is a time to refocus—or, at least, to get back to the grind after an extended holiday. At Cognoscenti Creative, we’ve been working hard on our goal of providing personalized resources for small businesses, from boutique hotels to family-run farms. Few places embody this artisanal ethos better than the quaint ski town of Crested Butte, so we’re kicking this newsletter off by revisiting one of our favorite articles for Life & Thyme magazine.
As always, thank you for taking the time to share these stories with any friends or contacts who might be interested in our brand strategy and creative services.
EDITORIAL | COLORADO'S MOST CHARMING ADVENTURE TOWN
“A winding four-hour drive from downtown Denver, the ski town of Crested Butte is among the Rocky Mountains’ most elusive little enclaves. Local businesses of all colors line the streets—historic preservation guidelines prevent chain stores from settling in—and further expansion of the town is limited by local conservationist efforts. The resulting charm is less cookie-cutter than quirky, and for snowbirds who enjoy a side of culture with some of the steepest runs in North America, there’s no more idyllic adventure town in the west…”
COPYWRITING + LIFESTYLE PHOTOGRAPHY | OLIVE + OAT GRANOLA
When Denver-based granola maker Sue Feld wanted to take her homespun granola operations to the next level, she asked Cognoscenti Creative to help develop a persuasive story distinguishing her wholesome product. Partnering with designer Kyle Read of Badson Studio, we echoed the intimate scale of Sue’s operations with a focus on warmth and approachability, developing a personal brand story that feels more greenmarket than glamorous.
BRANDING | HENRY LEE HOUSE | DENVER, CO
Though today it welcomes guests as a boutique hotel and event space, in the 1880s, this historic residence in the Denver Highlands was home to Henry Lee, founder of Denver's park system. Currently operated by Stay West Rentals, the property was ripe for renovations—and a rebrand—hiring us to craft a logo that captures the city’s old west heritage.
FOOD STYLING + PHOTOGRAPHY | CORNER POST MEATS
With three generations of ranching under their belts, the team at Corner Post Meats has long been respected by Rocky Mountain chefs and carnivores. With an emphasis on grass-finished and pasture-raised cuts, this farm and online butchers shop already sold to some of Colorado’s finest restaurants, but their photography did not reflect the quality of their customer base. Bringing a fresh perspective, we were contracted to develop product photography for a forthcoming website relaunch later this year.
