Opportunity, Reinvention + Resilience
Human connection, hospitality and creativity have always been defining elements of our work at Cognoscenti Creative. Over the past few months, we’ve been challenged to reimagine these high-touch interactions from a social distance—not only for our own business, but also for those of our clients.
Despite rapidly changing guidelines, timelines and social norms, many of our clients are choosing to face this moment with a sense of opportunity, reinvention and resilience. Below, we celebrate four recent projects that have deeply energized us—from local businesses that have reimagined their online presence, to buzzworthy editorial that reminds us nature will always find a way. And if you’re gearing up to clear that next business hurdle, who better to inspire you than the world’s greatest athletes?
EDITORIAL | EDIBLE DENVER MAGAZINE | BOULDER, CO
“...Scientists have verified the existence of at least 20,000 individual bee species, with researchers citing 946 native species in Colorado alone. Yet despite their rich and resilient history, bees are now facing unprecedented threats to their survival in the form of pests, disease, pesticides, modern agriculture practices and sheer misinformation about their role in our ecosystem.”
From Longmont, to Lyons, to Boulder, we had the pleasure of interviewing local beekeepers and activists—and learned a few simple ways we can all support these essential pollinators.
LOGO DESIGN + NAMING | FLAME BEARERS PODCAST | BOSTON, MA
When the Tokyo Summer Olympics were put on hold, graduate student Jamie Mittelman saw an opportunity to translate stifled athletic excellence into inspirational content. With the goal of launching alongside Harvard University’s Women in Power conference, we were charged with creating a podcast name and logo that capture the dynamism of trailblazing women in sport. Tapping into the iconography of the Olympic torch, hand-painted brushstrokes visually transpose this energy onto the female form. The result is a flickering, enigmatic everywoman who truly mirrors the Flame Bearers title.
WEB DESIGN, COPY + PHOTOGRAPHY | MOXIE BREAD CO. | BOULDER, CO
After five years of runaway success at his Louisville bakery, Moxie Bread Co. founder Andy Clark was preparing to open two fresh flour mill concepts in North Boulder. Yet Moxie’s outdated website no longer represented the business’ award-winning loaves or heirloom grain ambitions. Having previously collaborated with Andy on two editorial pieces for Life & Thyme magazine, we were excited to translate the colorful Moxie experience into a polished website—including lifestyle photography, persuasive storytelling and a reimagined user experience that helps streamline day-to-day operations.
SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGY | SWEET BLOOM COFFEE ROASTERS | LAKEWOOD, CO
When community-driven businesses switch to social distancing, optimizing social media may be the most effective way to engage loyal customers. So when celebrated Colorado roasters Sweet Bloom Coffee Roasters asked us to perform an Instagram audit, we were excited to provide the brand’s leadership team with an actionable social media strategy. From imagery styles and inspiration, to captions and content categories, it’s been exciting to see the Sweet Bloom team translate their warm welcome and industry expertise into bite-sized content for a growing (and global!) digital audience.
