Flavor Forward

The origins of Cognoscenti Creative are firmly rooted in the world of food and beverage, though many of our projects extend into such adjacent industries as hotels, architecture, design and wellness. Yet even as our work broadens, hospitality remains at the core of our ethos, as we highlight the human-centric stories behind bar-setting brands.

This year, we’ve had the pleasure of taking on several new F&B clients as the hospitality industry regains its post-pandemic footing, and we’re thrilled to be showcasing the fresh ideas shaping our local Colorado food scene. Whether branding a new concept, elevating an existing business or digging into meaningful trends through our editorial features, we’re proud to highlight several chefs and food entrepreneurs who have inspired our work of late.

DeFilippo Bodega Denver

BODEGA
Denver, Colorado

Since its initial opening in June 2022, we’ve loved seeing this scrappy, funky sandwich shop become one of Denver’s hottest dining destinations. As the hours have expanded and the menu has evolved, so too has our collaboration with Chef Cliff Blauvelt, as we put the finishing touches on this branding and website project with flavor-forward lifestyle photography, menu design and other printed brand collateral.

DeFilippo Brian Lockwood

CHEF BRIAN LOCKWOOD
Boulder, Colorado

After two decades of traveling the world—and cooking in some of its best restaurants—Chef Brian Lockwood returned to his home state of Colorado during the pandemic. After a wildly successful pop-up at Basta in Boulder, he wanted to memorialize some of the techniques and ingredients driving his current creativity. We were honored to join him in the kitchen for the day, capturing his knife skills (and knife collection), as well as a sense of his personal culinary style.

Cognoscenti Creative Fresh Food Further

FRESH FOOD FURTHER
Boulder, Colorado

We’ve been hard at work on our second collaboration with Chef Andrea Uzarowski, following the celebrated opening of Süti & Co. in Boulder. This time, her original entrepreneurial venture—Fresh Food Further—gets a face lift, with an updated visual identity and engaging brand messaging. As a multi-faceted business offering catering, private chef services and seasonal ticketed dinners, distilling the core values that drive this brand has been a key focus of our work, from an updated color palette rooted in the world of fresh ingredients, to evocative copy that clearly highlights Chef Andrea’s Michelin-starred credentials. More to come!

Cognoscenti Creative Edible Denver

EDITORIAL: SMALL BATCH BUSINESSES
Edible Denver

In our latest editorial for Edible Denver, we explore how Colorado's Cottage Food Act reduces the barriers to launching a new food business. For some, the flexible structure of the CFA proves lucrative enough to stay small, while others have used it as a starting point to launch some of the state's most exciting CPG and hospitality concepts. From a rustic bread bakery, to a European-style pastry shop and even an Ayurvedic ghee start-up, the article explains how ambitious artisans and skilled restaurant chefs have leveraged the CFA to realize their entrepreneurial goals.
